Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PapecEDU ("PapecEDU", "we", "us") operates papecedu.com.ng and the Papec CBT platform, providing exam preparation, computer-based testing, and related educational services to students, schools, and organisations in Nigeria.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: name, email, phone number, password (hashed), school/organisation details.
  • Usage data: practice sessions, exam attempts, scores, and progress within the platform.
  • Payment data: processed by Paystack; we store transaction references and status, not card details.
  • Device & technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and log data.
  • Exam integrity data: for proctored CBT exams where webcam monitoring is enabled by an organisation, we may capture periodic snapshots and violation events (e.g. tab switches) tied to that exam attempt.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide and maintain the practice, mock exam, and CBT services.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • To send service-related notifications (results, reminders, account activity).
  • To maintain exam integrity where proctoring is enabled by an organisation.
  • To improve the platform, with your consent, through aggregated analytics.

4. Legal basis for processing

We process personal data on the basis of: performance of a contract (providing the service you sign up for), consent (analytics/marketing cookies, notifications), and legitimate interest (platform security and fraud prevention), consistent with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and NDPR.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers necessary to run PapecEDU: Paystack (payments), Supabase (file/data storage), Resend (transactional email), and our hosting providers (Render, Vercel). Organisations running CBT exams on PapecEDU can access their own candidates' results and proctoring data. We do not sell personal data.

6. Data retention

We retain account and exam data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution requirements. Proctoring snapshots are retained per the organisation's exam settings.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and may withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time via the Cookie Policy section below. Contact us using the details in Section 9 to exercise these rights.

8. Children's privacy

PapecEDU is used by secondary school students, some of whom are minors. Where a student is under 18, we expect a parent, guardian, or school to have authorised their use of the platform. We do not knowingly collect more data from minors than is necessary to provide the service.

9. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, contact us through the support channel listed on our website.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using PapecEDU, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. Description of service

PapecEDU provides exam practice, mock exams, e-notes, and a computer-based testing (CBT) platform used by individual students and organisations (schools, companies, exam bodies) to create and administer exams.

3. Account registration & security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.

4. Subscriptions & payments

Paid plans are billed as described at checkout and processed via Paystack. Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise. Organisations may be billed per their selected CBT plan tier (Starter, Standard, Pro, Enterprise), with limits and features as shown on their dashboard.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: share exam content without authorisation, attempt to bypass exam proctoring or integrity controls, interfere with the platform's operation, or use the service for any unlawful purpose.

6. Exam integrity & proctoring

Where an organisation enables webcam proctoring or violation tracking for an exam, you consent to that monitoring for the duration of the exam attempt as a condition of sitting that exam. Monitoring data is used solely for exam integrity purposes by the organisation administering the exam.

7. Intellectual property

Some of the content on PapecEDU — questions, explanations, course material, branding — is not owned by PapecEDU. A good number of them are WAEC, NECO, UTME, and BECE past questions we collated and provided solutions to in order to aid student's preparations for any of these exams.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including organisations found to be misusing exam data or violating candidates' rights.

9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

PapecEDU is provided "as is". We do not guarantee specific exam outcomes. To the extent permitted by law, PapecEDU is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the platform.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of PapecEDU after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
